The last few days have been a whirlwind! I worked Friday and Saturday, then went to visit Courtney and her family Saturday night. I haven't seen them for a couple of years, but it was just like the old days...well except Courtney has baby Asa now. I was literally holding him all night, which is why I neglected to take any pictures! If you would like to see how incredibly adorable he is, take a look at
Courtney and Nate's blog! I will see them again on Wednesday, and I promise to get a good shot. Saturday night/Sunday morning, Paul and I stayed at Stefan's house. Thank you Stefan! Stefan was a life saver- he helped me make Nanny's Birthday cupcakes and made us an awesome breakfast. The cake part was coconut, and the frosting was supposed to be homemade buttercream with coconut extract, but ended up being store bought frosting. I was slightly disappointed in myself, and I know Martha would be horrified to know I iced her precious little cakes with fake icing...but it actually was pretty good- especially with the toasted coconut. They were pretty for sure! I can't wait to be living within a mile of a Central Market and Whole Foods where I can actually find all the crazy ingredients needed for Martha's cupcake recipes. We stuffed ourselves at Outback, then went for cakes at Nanny and Papa's house. Staishy and Sean- I just wanted to point out that yes, that is a mustache on Papa's face! By the time we got back to Denton, we literally walked in the door and crashed for a three hour nap. When I say we, I really should speak for myself because I honestly was out so fast, I had no idea what Paul did. : )
Yay! Looks like it was a success :)
ReplyDeleteI broke the camera...Right? Just as well, I guess.
ReplyDeleteThose little guys were very tasty indeed, and we all really enjoyed them.
Daina, you really outdid yourself. Coconut cake is my favorite, your Mom has made me one every year for years.
ReplyDeleteI love you and Paul so much, we have a wonderful family circle, and it makes me so proud!
Nanny!
I don't want to sound like a broken record, but to agree with everyone else, those cupcakes were very yummy. I loved the toasted coconut on top. It was like a party of textures. Soft, fluffy cake, creamy frosting, crunchy/chewy coconut.. Mmmm!
ReplyDeleteWish we could have been there - sounds like they were a success. And Martha is a bitch. Just because she's done time doesn't mean she gets to push you around. :)
ReplyDeleteTo one of my favorite granddaughters a HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Sure miss the both of you. It is stormy, windy and hot here. Typical Texas weather. Grandpa is taking a nap..think I will join him. He went to the Dr. this morning and he is scheduled for another round of tests. Dr. says he has a heart murmur. He has had a couple of dizzy spells.Getting old is hecky. Expect a gift in the mail Love Ya, Grandma
ReplyDeleteWe sure enjoyed talking with ya'll last night. I am in the learning stage of this blogging business...let know if you get this. Love Ya, Grandma
