Staishy chose Nanny's silver elephant pin to wear on her pretty blue scarf this week. I love the silver and blue for winter! So beautiful! I know pins can be worn all year round but somehow they just suite the cold months better in my opinion. I actually wore a pin on Sunday but I will be wearing my selection on Saturday to Grandma and Grandpa's Christmas celebration. :)

12/13/13
This past week Paul and I celebrated our pre-anniversary! Less than a year now until the wedding. :) We went out on a special date and I wore nanny's pearl beads. Each strand has different shaped pearls which makes it so unique and and fun twist on the classic pearls. I wore a dark blue dress with a black sweater and black tights, so the pearls popped and went nicely with my white clutch purse! I felt very wintry and felt like I had little icicles around my neck! We stopped by some lit trees on the way home to take this picture.

ice
I have been so excited to post these pics! Here it goes! The necklace I wore to Meredith's wedding was absolutely perfect- simple and sparkly. I didn't want to compete too much with the halter strap, sweetheart neckline of the beautiful blue dress, and the sweet earrings Meredith got us. I wore Nanny's clear glass/stone pendant on a gold chain. It was perfect if I do say so! The following weekend, I went to a baby shower and wore Nanny's pearl bracelet. It dressed up the outfit just a touch. :) The next picture is my first pin! It was one of the first really cold days and it just screamed winter- Nanny's silver wreath pin that looks like garland! So pretty! This may have been my first pin ever and definitely a first in our jewelry adventure. For Thanksgiving I chose Nanny's tiger eye necklace which is absolutely one of my favorites and perfect for fall. I bought new earrings to match too! I have always had a soft spot for tiger eye jewelry. It just seems so vintage and swanky. I feel like its the equivalent to wearing animal print clothing...which I probably never would do..hehe. This past weekend I managed to get out of the apartment and in to the ice to show off Nanny's clip-on elephant earring, turned scarf pin! It actually worked perfectly because there was no fear of snagging or it falling off! I think I might try it on the edge of one of my black clutch purses next! This poor thing was missing its mate but luckily I was able to make it a really fun piece! I really need to take more pictures in the natural light- it makes it so much easier to see the jewelry.
I usually find it hard to choose a favorite of Staishy's choices, but I had a definite fav this time! All the pieces are wonderful though! Staishy's first pick was Nanny's green and purple stone necklace with a periwinkle sweater- Nanny's favorite color. :) Love the necklace! Staishy chose to go with a blue stone and diamond ring the following week! So pretty! Staishy and I think they may be sapphires but she said they may possibly be aquamarines since the stones look different in some lights. Although... I stare at my aquamarine (Cinderella as I have affectionately named her) quite often and these look more like sapphires to me..but there are so many variations to both stones its hard to tell. Lovely ring! Staishy would agree I'm sure, that there is something so special about wearing Nanny's rings. Somehow it just feels that we are that much closer to Nanny and feeling her past experiences and presence. I look at Staishy in these pieces and she reminds me so much of Nanny! The next one compliments Staishy's polkadot scarf- Nanny's' clip-on pearl and silver earrings. I have the exact pair in gold that I almost wore this week! Thankfully Nanny bought in pairs as Staishy and I do, so no fighting needed! I agree that these are very comfy clip-ons! I will be debuting mine eventually as well! So elegant. For my favorite- Nanny's long gold chain with pearl beads! I think it is just beautiful and simple and looks beautiful on Staishy. So classic and very much classic Nanny. :) Last week Staishy chose a really fun multi-strand white and gold necklace! So fun! I can't wait to see what Staishy picks out this week! I have something in mind to wear for my weekly coffee with Stefan tomorrow!

five
I can't believe I have missed 5 weeks worth of jewelry pictures to upload! Between getting engaged :), my friend Meredith's upcoming nuptials, new babies coming, getting a new position at work, birthdays, trips, and a million other things in between I have not made time! The time sure does fly! Its hard to believe Nanny has been gone for 6 months. There has not been one week missed in our jewelry adventure. In fact, most days we both wear one of her pieces and I imagine it will always be like that. It just seems like we have always gotten dressed wondering which piece will look best...or more likely- desperately trying to find an outfit to go with a certain piece we are dying to wear. A co-worker of mine commented that he noticed the picture of my grandmother I have on my cell phone and that he thought I looked just like her. I have to say, the more pictures I get of Staishy the more she reminds me of her. What classic beauties!
I wish I could pick a favorite of Staishy's picks but they are all absolutely lovely! I think I may be partial to the silver chain because it was classic Nanny- especially with that top! The multi colored stone necklace is so pretty too and Staishy said her skirt matched! I love the autumn colors. In the third picture Staishy is wearing a white bead necklace that I think may have come from Hawaii. I think they are sort of a formal Hawaiian bead necklace but I could be making that up. Either way, they are absolutely beautiful! Nanny's pin and necklace combo are so fun! The simple gold chain was classic Nanny and then for that statement piece! :) Staishy said she had so many compliments on it. Last week Staishy wore Nanny's blueish-grey pearl and silver earrings with her caged pearl necklace. I have a white pearl version of this that I can't wait to wear. Such a neat take on the classic pearls. Staishy said she wore these for a presentation which I have no doubt when perfectly! :)

One of my favorites that I wore has to be this bling ring of Nanny's- I believe it is a smokey quartz. Beautiful! I couldn't help but stare at it! Another fun piece is this black bead necklace. I know its just a costume piece but I have worn it so many times. Sometimes I just need a little something extra and this necklace works perfectly for it! I absolutely loved Nanny's burgundy bead necklace. I loved the way the beads were strung-they were sort of snake-like and heavy. The quality of these pieces are amazing considering their age. I felt so pretty in them. :) I have been so excited to show off some of Nanny's pearls! Staishy was so sweet to let me have so many sets of them. I have worn them a couple of times but haven't been able to get a good picture. I put these on for a job interview and immediately felt a hundred times classier and I felt better knowing I had a little piece of something familiar. They must have been lucky because I got the job! For Halloween week I wore Nanny's ship earrings. I wasn't quite sure when I would pull these off but it came to me that these would be so fun for this occasion. I really must get some new locations to take pictures. This makes it seem like I only hang out in my living room, bathroom, or the car. Well...this is pretty much the case hehe. Next weekend is Meredith's wedding and I will be wearing a cobalt blue bridesmaid's dress. We are wearing gold jewelry and I have had months to plan which piece to wear but have yet to make a decision! I will be posting my selection next Sunday!

seasons
Happy Fall! It's finally here! I am loving all of the jewelry picks these last two weeks. I especially love Staishy's pick of Nanny's braided silver, gold, and rose gold necklace! I have a skinnier version of it that I am dying to show off! It looks so "Autumn" here, but it can go so many directions. It is beautiful and I love the length! I have to apologize for my pictures- this is what 2 weeks over overtime and one bridal shower looks like-sleepy eyes and poor lighting. :) The first of mine is one of Nanny's orange stone necklaces. I just love the orange and it felt appropriate for the new season! Staishy and i both rocked the clip-ons this past week. Staishy chose Nanny's classy double pearl and rhinestone earrings which are just darling with the polka dots! The bridal shower I co-hosted was a garden party, (yes we can still have those in fall in Texas), so i felt these yellow flower earrings to be especially appropriate! Papa said Nanny wore them in the 60s! Great job Nanny-they are still cute today. ;) They were so fun, but sadly may be the last of the summery jewelry I can wear for a while! I picked up the bridesmaids dress I am wearing to Meredith's wedding today and am going to pick out my jewelry to wear with it right now! I can't wait to debut it!

almost autumn
I am so jealous that Staishy is sporting her fall looks! I am still stuck in summer, but these past few days I have felt a change and I think our fall may be coming. Whether the weather changes for the first day of fall or not...my scarves will come in to every day wear (instead of just in movie theaters), our show pumpkin goes out, and the wreath goes up! I love Staishy's first pick of Nanny's brown, taupe, and grey double strand bead necklace. So beautiful for any time, but especially for fall! As far as her second pick, I am especially excited to see another of Nanny's purple bead necklaces. I just love mine- I wear them all the time! I am always a fan of black and white with a pop of color too. So stylish! I am also excited that they could be paired with the earrings I recently got for Staishy. I have the same earrings and I might just have to wear them with my purple beads. :)
My first pick is a necklace I have worn with this top about a million times! Every time I wear it I vow to get a picture but just never have been able to. I was determined this time! These twister beads are so fun and I believe this blouse was made specifically for them! I feel bad for the other lonely blouses out there that will never live up to their potential without this beauty! Paul spent what seemed like hours untangling this long strand of what may be 15 feet or more of blue and green beads when we first found it, that Staishy insisted we should have it, and I'm so glad she did! I take special care to keep it from getting tangled like that again! I have worn it twisted and loose but have not yet ventured away from wearing it with this blouse! This past week I really just wanted to go for simplicity with Nanny's silver twist chain. It also reminds me of a gold bracelet of Amy's that was just sadly lost-it was a gift from her grandfather to her grandmother. I feel so lucky to have so many things that were Nanny's and feel so sad that Amy has lost something so special. I know how she felt to wear it and I would be absolutely devastated. So, here's hoping that wherever that special bracelet is it somehow makes it back to Amy or at least to someone who will take good care of it. :( I am off to pick out my jewelry for the week and am hoping that something autumn speaks to me!

vacation
Paul and I celebrated our birthdays and anniversary at the Gaylord Texan a couple of weekends ago! I had the best weekend and the best birthday ever! Go there. Now! I love that Paulie doesn't mind doing the lame couple stuff with me-he has such a kind, sweet, and romantic heart. I sure do love him. ;) In addition to a million special birthday wishes from everyone I know, (and don't know at the hotel), we got so many great gifts! Mom and Dad got us a new camera so we can document all the exciting events coming up in our lives and also took us out for a family dinner! My work family got me cards, decorated my desk, bought me tacos for lunch, made me cupcakes, and got me a gift card to Target! They know me so well. :) Paul won me an iPad Mini from the arcade room at the hotel- which turned out to be an amazing, (and cheap) birthday gift and a great end to our dream weekend! Thank you to Papa, Grandma and Grandpa, and to Paul's parents, Ray and Frances, for your gifts as well! Our celebrations last for the whole two weeks that span between our birthdays and its wonderful! Happy early birthday Paulie! More pictures will be coming with the new camera!
It has been too long since I posted jewelry pictures! My jewelry pick a couple of weeks ago is actually a piece I wear often but have never been able to get a good picture of. I still didn't succeed with the yellow glow of the bathroom lighting...but I wanted to show this beautiful purple bead/stone necklace! It goes with so many things and is the perfect length. The dark shade of purple becomes almost a neutral and I have worn it with just about every color and it always looks good. The necklace I wore the previous week at the hotel is a new favorite! I have been dying to wear it and have never found the right outfit to pair it with! As soon as I saw this black and white top, I knew it would look lovely with the green. I imagine the green will be a good fall/winter necklace and I can hardly wait! Saturday I wore this lovely bead necklace as a double strand. So fun! Staishy picked some really fun pieces these past few weeks! The first one looks like another long strand that she made a triple strand. I love how versatile the long necklaces are. What pretty colors too! It seems like it would surprisingly go with a lot of things, and certainly looks beautiful with blue! Her pick from a couple of weeks ago is a black and gold beaded necklace. Nanny seemed to love the black and navy blue beaded necklaces. So classic! The earrings she chose last week are just lovely! I am impressed with her ability to wear clip-ons! I have a few I will be breaking out soon. Many of them will be perfect for Christmas! I can't decide what I will be debuting this week and of course can't wait to see what Staishy picks! :)

natural
Staishy and I both picked earthy/natural pieces this week-it was just the mood we were in I guess! The necklace I chose just seemed so unique and interesting and I love its simplicity. It has some oxidization on the metal which I actually think adds to its uniqueness. I love Staishy's choice of Nanny's carved wooden elephants. I always like the dark wood pieces on her- they just always seem to pop against her skin and eyes. As soon as I think I have found my favorite on her, she tops it! I'm sure everyone we know has to have realized Nanny's love of elephants by now! Yes, there are still more elephants to come. :)
This past week a friend of mine found out she is having a baby girl and wants to name her Imani- I just think that is beautiful! I knew all along she was having a girl. I have become quite the gender predictor with all these babies coming in to my life! Of course, when it comes time to have my own I will probably have no idea! This week I will be working on a special project at work, which will be a nice change of pace. Next weekend I will be going for a slumber party at Cameron's house for her daughter's birthday. She is about the age of Cameron and I when we met which seems just crazy! Did I mention it's almost MY birthday?? More importantly, did I mention I will be on vacation from work for it?! Most important news of the week: Paul and I have been together now for 6 years which seems to have flown by! Time needs to slow down! Before I know it, it will be 60. :) I sure do love him.

simple
I loved the jewelry Staishy and I picked these last couple of weeks. They are so simple but wore beautifully! I always think it will be harder to top our picks from the previous weeks, but it keeps getting more exciting and I really start trying to imagine what Staishy will come up with! Staishy chose Nanny's stack rings-they look so pretty on her and I'm sure she gets tons of complements and questions about them. What a neat statement piece and conversation starter! Last week Staishy chose a darker set of blue twister beads and I absolutely love how well it made her outfit! I love the versatility of the beads because they can be for everyday wear or dressy. Doesn't Staishy look beautiful? That is such a Nanny expression she has on her face-it made me smile right back to her when I saw it! My two pieces were not previously some of my absolute favorite pieces, (and I say this loosely because there is not one piece that I don't love!), but they have made it to the top! The pearl/black/gold bead necklace goes with so many more things than I thought they would. They are formal and casual all at the same time! The blonde wood beads I chose for this past week were so much fun to wear. They just feel so rich considering they are wood. I might as well have been wearing pearls! I paired it with a simple gold chain of mine because I thought they just looked so pretty together- one delicate and metal and the other heavy and earthy, but both simple on their own until put together. I highly recommend the mixing. Staishy, I'm sure, also finds herself planning her entire outfit around her jewelry! Who knew we could be so stylish?
