Yesterday Meredith, Paul, and I felt adventurous enough to go to a local barbecue joint here in Denton. It was good. We pulled up to the place thinking it was closed because there were absolutely no cars. It was well worth it because we had a quick, quiet meal with good, (well...pretty good) service! Paul always says the farther away from campus you get, the more weirdos you see- we left about the time they were all showing up! Paul and I are trying to hit all the places we didn't manage to go to in the last 5 years before we officially move. Yes, we will visit, but we still have a list of places to fill! We ended the night watching Kindergarten Cop. Yes. That's right.
What is this barbecue joint you speak of? I LOVE barbecue. I've always thought it would be cool to own my own barbecue joint/sports bar, a lot of work though. I'm always on the lookout for a good barbecue joint. There used to be one off Camp Bowie on the edge of Como that I used to go to on occasion (conveniently right across the street from an "establishment" I visited after work ever so often). They had buy one get one free chopped brisket sandwiches for $5. They were pretty good. Usually I don't do chopped brisket because all you ever taste is the sauce, but these weren't drowning in the stuff and tasted smokey and very yummy. I'm usually not a sauce kind of person, to me it covers up the true flavor of the meat. So the only time you catch me with sauce is when the flavor of said meat is, shall we say, sub par. Boy, all this talk of barbecue makes me want to smoke a brisket!
ReplyDeleteIt is Smokehouse Barbecue on Fort Worth drive, on the other side of 35. We didn't really need that much sauce because the meat was so good, but you may think otherwise! Their potato salad was good too! Their only downfall was no cobbler!
